This is our Annual Sweet Corn Fest!

There is nothing like fresh sweet corn and at Gro-Moore Farm Market, Greenhouse and Pumpkin Patch, Henrietta, New York you can get it right off the husk! There will be a special sampling time, so you can get your first taste of this season’s fresh homegrown sweet corn. This event is held at Gro-Moore Farm Market on East Henrietta Road, in front of the Dome Center. This free sampling time is open to the entire public. Sweet corn is a favorite of the season, boiled or baked, buttered or plain, even microwaved with the husk still on it!

Gro-Moore Farms will be offering samples of their fresh baked pies along with our wonderful mixes for fresh fruit crisp, cobbler, and muffins. And make sure you try Gro-Moore Farms delicious preserves and syrups. They even offer some varieties with no added sugar for those trying to monitor their sugar intake.

Hot, fresh corn-on-the-cob is an almost essential part of any summertime party. Fortunately, it is also worthy part of any healthful menu. Corn is a good source of many nutrients including thiamin (vitamin B1), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), folate, dietary fiber, vitamin C, phosphorous and manganese.

“Sweet corn season is one of the most anticipated times of the year for folks in these parts. This year’s crop won’t disappoint either. The corn is full, tender, and very tasty. We have a couple of varieties, the most popular of which seems to be what people refer to as ‘butter & salt’ or ‘butter & sugar’,” notes owner Jack Moore. “If you have never tried preparing sweet corn other than by boiling it and covering it with butter, we can give you a couple of ways to try.”

Kathy Moore, points out, “ This is an opportunity for young and old alike who just can’t wait for that first bite of fresh homegrown sweet corn, as well as the many products we have to help you and your family to enjoy corn. ”

For other special Sundays, you may want to print our Summer Tasting Schedule so you have the list right on the fridge!
